NYSE and Blockchain.com Team Up on Tokenized Stocks
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Blockchain.com have announced a partnership to introduce tokenized stocks. According to a recent statement, if approved, users of Blockchain.com would be able to trade tokenized versions of U.S.-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds on the NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system.
This move comes as Wall Street continues to show interest in Bitcoin and its related infrastructure. The NYSE's parent company, Intercontinental Exchange, has already invested in crypto exchange OKX. Peter Smith, Blockchain.com's executive chairman and CEO, stated that this collaboration will enable tens of millions of users worldwide to invest in these digital assets.
The NYSE is building a platform allowing traders to buy and sell tokenized versions of U.S.-listed equities and exchange-traded funds, with the ability to settle trades on the blockchain 24/7. This move has been accelerated by a more favorable regulatory environment, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's recent approval of tokenized stocks trading.
The partnership between the NYSE and Blockchain.com is seen as a significant step towards unifying traditional finance with digital assets. As Wall Street continues to explore the potential of crypto, this collaboration may pave the way for greater accessibility and innovation in the financial sector.
