OCEAN to Reimburse Miners Affected by Chain-Split Error
Bitcoin mining pool OCEAN has pledged to reimburse miners affected by its recent chain-split error. The incident occurred when some operators unknowingly mined on the BIP-110 chain despite selecting the non-BIP-110 option due to a configuration issue.
The error lasted for approximately 18 hours, and during this time, miners who believed their hashrate was directed to the non-BIP-110 chain were actually contributing to the BIP-110 side of the split. To rectify the situation, OCEAN will issue direct Bitcoin rebate payments based on rewards miners would have earned on the non-BIP-110 chain during that period.
The pool estimates that approximately 0.3 BTC will be distributed, with payments completed within the next 72 hours. OCEAN has also restored its default endpoint to the non-BIP-110 chain, but both mining options remain available for explicit selection by operators.
