OKB Rallies on OKX 25 Billion Valuation Funding Round
OKB, the native token of the OKX exchange, surged by 3.15% over an 8-hour period following a major funding announcement from OKX. The cryptocurrency exchange revealed on October 6 that it had secured a strategic funding extension at a $25 billion valuation, attracting high-profile investors such as Circle, Ripple, Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures, and quant firm Qube Research & Technologies.
The funding round is seen as an extension of a March investment where Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the NYSE, invested around $200 million at the same valuation. This new round strengthens OKX’s stablecoin and payments capabilities through Circle and Ripple, while SC Ventures and QRT enhance its institutional finance and liquidity provision.
Following the announcement, OKB’s price jumped from approximately $131 to $139 within a few hours, marking a 6.11% increase. This move was part of a broader intraday repricing, as the market reacted to the news of OKX’s strengthened valuation and institutional partnerships. The price later partially retraced and stabilized near $136.
The broader crypto market was mildly negative during this period, reinforcing that OKB’s price movement was driven by OKX-specific developments rather than a general market surge. There were no significant tokenomics changes or external shocks tied to OKX during this time, making the funding news the primary catalyst for OKB’s price movement.
