OKX, ICE Launch 24/7 Blockchain Trading Platform for 63 NYSE-Listed Companies
OKX, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has filed a notification with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a blockchain-based trading platform. The platform, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the NYSE, aims to offer 24/7 trading of tokenized shares from 63 NYSE-listed companies, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla.
The proposed platform, OKXICE LLC, combines OKX's digital-asset infrastructure with ICE's traditional financial-market expertise. The two companies formed a joint venture in June. Before trading begins, each company would have 30 days to object or opt out of having its shares offered on the platform.
The platform would operate around the clock, seven days a week, and would use permissioned Uniswap v4 liquidity pools deployed on XLayer, with tokenized stocks paired against USDC, USDG, or USDT.
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo described the move as “a major step forward for OKXICE” as it could help create “a truly global, 24/7 Wall Street.”
The filing uses the SEC's five-year “Innovation Exemption” framework introduced on 17 September. The framework allows approved Tokenized Securities Venues to handle certain U.S. securities through blockchain-based systems. However, the proposed market would face limits, with a tokenized venue able to list up to 75 eligible stocks, and trading in an individual token cannot exceed 0.25% of that stock's previous month's total trading volume.
