OKX Money App Launches to Bring Stablecoin Savings to Emerging Markets
OKX has launched a new app called OKX Money, aimed at users in emerging markets facing currency volatility and limited banking access. Announced on October 6, 2026, during the OKX Now product event in Singapore, the app focuses on saving, sending, and spending dollar-backed stablecoins. Users can deposit local currency from over 50 supported currencies, which is then converted into USDG, USDC, or USDT. Transfers and conversions between these stablecoins are free.
The app offers competitive yields, with eligible USDG balances earning up to 10% annual percentage yield without requiring staking or lock-ups. Spending is facilitated through virtual and physical Mastercard cards, which come with no foreign-exchange fees and a 10% cashback option on qualifying purchases.
The rollout will target regions like Latin America, Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East, though specific countries have not yet been disclosed. OKX emphasizes user-friendly design and regulatory compliance, aiming to attract users unfamiliar with crypto. The app's stablecoin infrastructure leverages Paxos’s Global Dollar Network, with USDG reserves backed by US Treasury bills and money market funds.
For OKX, this move represents an effort to attract users who would not typically engage with trading platforms. The app’s features, including high yields and cashback rewards, position it as a strong competitor in the stablecoin market, particularly for USDG. However, regulatory variations across target regions may present challenges.
