OKX Money Launches Stablecoin App with 10% Rewards and Global Cards
OKX has introduced a standalone consumer finance app called OKX Money, designed to convert over 50 local currencies into dollar-backed stablecoins. The app allows users to earn rewards on USDG balances and spend through virtual or physical Mastercard-linked cards, with no foreign-exchange fees or conversion markups. Eligible customers can receive up to 10% annual percentage yield (APY) on qualifying USDG balances without staking or locking funds. The app also offers up to 10% cashback on qualifying purchases, though rates and availability vary by market and customer.
OKX Money is positioned as a digital-dollar account rather than a traditional crypto wallet, targeting consumers who want to save, transfer, and spend without dealing with blockchain infrastructure. The company aims to reach customers who have never used a crypto application, focusing on markets where dollar accounts are limited, local currencies are volatile, and cross-border card spending incurs high fees.
Stablecoin-linked cards are becoming a key route for converting crypto balances into everyday purchasing power. OKX Money integrates fiat funding, stablecoin conversion, yield, transfers, and card spending into one application, reducing the steps between receiving local currency and spending dollar-linked value. The app supports USDG, USDC, and USDT, with no conversion fees between these stablecoins.
OKX’s strategic push into regulated payments infrastructure is highlighted by its Payment Institution license in Malta, obtained in February. This license allows the company to broaden stablecoin payment services across Europe. The strategic question is whether OKX can convert its exchange user base into recurring payments and savings activity, extending its revenue relationship with customers beyond trading volumes and market cycles.
