OKX Moves to Launch Tokenized US Stock Trading Platform
OKX has taken a significant step toward launching a tokenized US stock trading platform after filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Sunday. This move positions OKX as one of the first major crypto exchanges to leverage new US regulations allowing digital versions of public-company shares to trade on crypto platforms.
The filing was submitted by OKXICE LLC, a joint venture between cryptocurrency exchange operator OKX and Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The platform plans to seek approval to offer tokenized shares of an initial 63 NYSE-listed companies.
Under the SEC’s new framework, issuers have 30 days to opt out before trading can begin. This regulatory change opens the door for crypto exchanges to integrate traditional stock trading into their platforms, potentially attracting a broader range of investors.
