OKX Secures $25 Billion Valuation in New Funding Round
OKX has secured fresh capital in a funding round that values the crypto exchange at $25 billion. The round attracted investments from Circle, Ripple, Standard Chartered's SC Ventures, and Qube Research & Technologies (QRT). The company did not disclose the exact amount raised but highlighted its plans to expand into tokenized stocks and institutional markets.
The new funding comes as OKX deepens its collaboration with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. In March, ICE invested $200 million in OKX, forming a strategic partnership. The latest round extends this relationship, bringing in additional investors from both the crypto and traditional finance sectors.
OKX is positioning itself to launch a permissioned, on-chain trading venue for tokenized U.S. stocks through a joint venture with ICE. The platform, known as OKXICE, aims to offer more than 60 U.S.-listed companies, including Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft. The venue would operate 24/7 on OKX's X Layer blockchain and has notified the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the regulator's Innovation Exemption.
The funding round also saw OKX's native token, OKB, briefly surge to nearly $142 before retracing slightly. The token was trading around $136, reflecting a more than 7% gain. The investment highlights OKX's evolution from a crypto exchange into a broader financial-market infrastructure provider, with backing from major players in both crypto and traditional finance.
