OKX Secures $25B Valuation in Funding Round with Major Investors
Crypto exchange OKX has secured significant funding in an extension of its previous round, with a new valuation of $25 billion. The latest investors include hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies, Circle Internet Financial, Ripple’s SC Ventures, and Standard Chartered. This follows an earlier investment in March by Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the NYSE, which put in around $200 million at the same valuation.
The fresh capital will support OKX’s expansion into tokenizing real-world assets and growing its existing crypto platform. On Sunday, OKICE, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, filed with the SEC to launch a platform for trading tokenized securities. The platform will operate 24/7 and initially offer more than 60 U.S.-listed companies.
The SEC recently granted temporary, conditional exemptive relief for trading tokenized NMS stocks using permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools. Star Xu, founder and CEO of OKX, stated, "The exchange was our starting point, and we are evolving into a broader global financial technology platform." He emphasized the goal of building a next-generation financial technology platform that integrates crypto technology with global financial standards.
