OKX secures funding at 25 billion valuation for broader fintech push
Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has secured fresh funding at a $25 billion valuation, according to a Tuesday press release. The round involved participation from existing partners and investors, including Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures, Qube Research & Technologies, Ripple, and stablecoin issuer Circle. However, the exact amount raised was not disclosed.
The latest funding extends a previous round in March, where OKX raised $200 million at the same valuation from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. The new capital will support OKX’s shift toward becoming a broader global financial technology platform, blending crypto technology with the standards of traditional financial institutions. Star Xu, founder and CEO of OKX, emphasized this vision in the announcement.
On Monday, a joint venture between OKX and ICE filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a tokenized stock trading platform under the regulator’s new innovation exemption. This move aligns with OKX’s strategic expansion into mainstream financial services.
