OKX Secures New Capital at 25 Billion Valuation
OKX, the prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has secured fresh capital from its existing investors at a staggering $25 billion valuation. The funding round included contributions from Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures, Qube Research & Technologies, Ripple, and Circle, according to a recent press release shared with Cointelegraph. The company chose not to disclose the exact amount raised, but the round extends a previous funding initiative announced in March, where OKX secured $200 million at the same valuation from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
The latest investment will support OKX’s ambitious plans to evolve into a comprehensive global financial technology platform. This platform aims to integrate crypto technology with the standards expected from traditional financial institutions. Star Xu, the founder and CEO of OKX, emphasized this transition in the announcement.
On Monday, OKX and ICE collaborated to file with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a tokenized stock trading platform. This initiative leverages the SEC’s new innovation exemption, demonstrating OKX’s commitment to expanding its offerings beyond traditional cryptocurrency trading.
