OKX Web3 raises DeFi AML standards with Elliptic Lens integration

Share

OKX Web3, the decentralized arm of the global crypto exchange OKX, has integrated Elliptic Lens into its infrastructure to enhance anti-money laundering (AML) compliance in decentralized finance (DeFi). This move sets a new standard for financial crime detection in the DeFi space, ensuring real-time screening of wallets and transactions.

The challenge for OKX Web3 was to bring centralized exchange-grade AML controls to its decentralized products, particularly the OKX DEX Aggregator. This on-chain aggregator routes trades across multiple decentralized exchanges while keeping assets in users' wallets. Unlike most DEXs, OKX Web3 aimed to provide the same security and user protection standards as its centralized platform.

To achieve this, OKX Web3 embedded Elliptic Lens, an API-based wallet and transaction screening solution, into the OKX DEX Aggregator. The system screens initiating and receiving wallets against Elliptic's risk intelligence, blocking high-risk wallets before trades proceed. This automated process replaces manual reviews and outdated blacklists, ensuring real-time risk decisions without adding friction for users.

Since its implementation in July 2025, the system has screened approximately 15 million wallets. The outcome includes exchange-grade controls on DeFi, greater confidence for institutional clients, and stronger protection against known crypto crime typologies. OKX Web3 plans to extend these controls to other areas, such as agentic payments, prediction markets, perpetual trading, and its EVM Layer-2 network, X Layer.
