OKXICE Joint Venture Aims to Revolutionize Tokenized Securities Trading
OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) have notified the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of their plans to launch a tokenized securities platform under the innovation exemption. The joint venture, named OKXICE, aims to provide on-chain trading for tokenized U.S. stocks on X Layer, covering more than 60 companies, including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, and SpaceX. Issuers will have 30 days to opt out of the platform.
The initiative follows the SEC's recent five-year exemption, allowing certain platforms to operate tokenized versions of U.S. stocks without registering as traditional exchanges. The platform will offer securities from major companies like JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Netflix, Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Coinbase, Robinhood, Palantir, AMD, Circle, Reddit, and others.
Andrew Cuomo, co-chair of the joint venture and former Governor of New York, described the launch as 'a historic step toward a truly global, 24-hour Wall Street.' He emphasized that the digital asset revolution is transforming the financial system and that tokenized securities are part of the future.
Star Xu, founder and CEO of OKX, highlighted that tokenization could make public markets 'more open, fluid, and always available.' He stressed that the future of markets lies in 'real, on-chain ownership' and that full shareholder rights are crucial for this model.
