O'Leary Predicts Bitcoin Will Save the World

Kevin O'Leary, a Canadian entrepreneur and star of 'Shark Tank', has made a dramatic shift in his stance on Bitcoin. In early 2019, he called it 'garbage', but now claims that it could potentially 'save the world'. O'Leary has allocated 20% of his portfolio to cryptocurrencies and blockchains.

O'Leary hopes that Bitcoin mining will become more sustainable in the future, using hydroelectricity and nuclear energy as main power sources. He expects this to happen in the coming years and has even stated that he would dedicate the next decade to working in the sector.

In a recent interview with Fortune, O'Leary mentioned his concerns about Bitcoin mining operations set up in China. Although the country imposed a ban on mining last year, miners continue to rely heavily on coal power, hindering efforts to 'greenify' Bitcoin.
