O'Leary Sees Bitcoin as 1-3% of Institutional Portfolios, Ties Buying to Blockchain Adoption
Kevin O'Leary has re-entered the crypto market with fresh positions ahead of the next cycle. Speaking at the Avalanche Summit in New York, he stated that Bitcoin could eventually account for 1% to 3% of institutional alternative-asset allocations.
O'Leary compares this potential allocation directly to how much gold institutions currently hold. He emphasized that his renewed buying is tied to a specific structural bet: the first major stock exchange to adopt a blockchain would force the rest of the financial system to fall in line with its technical and compliance requirements.
This moment, he called a watershed, could settle the ongoing fragmentation across competing chains. O'Leary also noted that regulatory ambiguity around tokenized securities is part of why consensus hasn't formed yet.
