O'Leary Sees End of Ethereum Dominance, Cites Solana and Avalanche as Top Alternatives
Kevin O'Leary, a well-known investor from Shark Tank, has questioned whether Ethereum will remain the industry standard for blockchain technology in the future. Speaking at the Avalanche Summit, he stated that newer chains are gaining relevance and are recognized as top rivals to ETH.
O'Leary noted that Ethereum's network currently controls 54% of the DeFi market, but he doubts whether it will be fast enough to maintain future demand under its control. He cited Solana (SOL) and Avalanche (AVAX) as alternatives to Ethereum's slow network, stating that they offer improved scalability, lower costs, and faster transactions.
Ethereum has been the leading chain for smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) since its launch in 2015. However, newer projects such as SOL, AVAX, BNB, ADA, and DOT are gaining traction due to their improved scalability and lower transaction fees.
