Ondo Finance Launches Tokenized Notes for 247 Private Company Trading
Ondo Finance has broadened its tokenization services with the introduction of blockchain-based notes tied to private companies. The first offering will track a prominent pre-IPO artificial intelligence firm, with trading set to begin this week. Eligible participants outside the U.S. can access this product through Ondo Private Markets.
The tokenized notes provide financial exposure to privately held companies without conferring ownership rights or direct shares. Instead, they mirror changes in the company’s share value during liquidity events. Ondo aims to expand this model across sectors like robotics, cybersecurity, and biotechnology, potentially adding more private companies to its platform.
These notes are designed for 24/7 trading on supported blockchain markets, surpassing the limited hours of traditional securities markets. However, access remains restricted based on geography and eligibility. Ondo also allows supported tokens to move between compatible blockchain networks and decentralized finance applications, enhancing portability while adhering to jurisdictional rules.
Ondo’s new platform builds on its existing infrastructure for tokenized stocks and Treasuries, which holds approximately $3.7 billion in total value locked. The company has over one million holders across its tokenized asset products. This expansion into private markets extends Ondo’s strategy of integrating blockchain technology into traditional finance.
