Ondo Founder's Mother Sues to Remove CEO Amid Power Struggle
Ondo Finance, a tokenized assets pioneer, is embroiled in a power struggle after the death of its founder. Kathleen Allman, the mother of Nathan Allman, has filed a lawsuit to remove CEO Ian De Bode and gain control of the firm.
The legal battle began on July 24th when Kathleen Allman held a formal board meeting and voted to remove De Bode as CEO. However, De Bode downplayed the move, calling it 'meritless' and stating that Kathy Allman's decision to file a lawsuit is 'regretful.'
Ondo Finance was founded in 2021 with backing from prominent investors including Coinbase, Wintermute, Tiger Global, and Peter Thiel's Founders Fund. The company announced on X that Ian De Bode would serve as CEO after Nathan Allman's death.
Investors have reacted defensively to the control battle, with over 10M ONDO tokens hitting exchanges, suggesting some insiders had prior information of the lawsuit. This selling pressure sent the token crashing by about 9% in the past 48 hours, with prices currently trading around $0.31.
