Ondo Pushes USDY Deeper into Solana Ecosystem
Ondo Finance is expanding its tokenized US dollar yield product, USDY, into more Solana DeFi venues. This move aims to increase the usability of tokenized real-world assets within decentralized finance (DeFi).
USDY represents exposure to short-term US Treasuries and bank deposits, earning a yield over time. Unlike conventional stablecoins like USDC or USDT, which aim to maintain a fixed $1 redemption value, USDY's yield component makes it structurally different.
By integrating with Solana lending, liquidity, and trading venues, holders can use USDY as productive collateral or liquidity while retaining exposure to the underlying yield profile. This is an important step for Ondo, as a tokenized Treasury product becomes more useful when it can circulate through DeFi workflows like crypto-native collateral.
Solana's appeal for tokenized assets lies in its fast settlement, low transaction costs, and active DeFi ecosystem, making it easier for institutional-style assets to circulate. Ondo has been working on bridging the gap between regulated assets and composability, expanding product lines to include tokenized equities and new institutional minting routes.
