ONDO Surges Amid Treasury Yield Shock: Bitcoin Holds Firm at $84,000
Despite Treasury yields surging to levels not seen since 2007, Bitcoin remained resilient near $84,000. However, some altcoins managed to post gains, with ONDO emerging as a standout performer.
The S&P Global September flash composite PMI came in at 58.4, indicating expansion and economic momentum that could prompt central bankers to adopt a hawkish stance. This led to higher Treasury yields, but Bitcoin absorbed the shock without breaking down through its established support zone.
ONDO's price traded between $0.42 and $0.50 during the session, posting gains while much of the altcoin market delivered mixed or flat results. The token is associated with Ondo Finance, a protocol that has staked its identity on tokenized real-world assets, specifically U.S. Treasuries and equities.
Ondo Finance has been building out its product suite aggressively, notching partnerships with NEAR and Alpaca, expanding its tokenized stock offerings, and securing a connection to DTCC, the U.S. clearing infrastructure backbone. BlackRock's push into tokenized assets has also created favorable ambient conditions for the sector.
