Ondo Urges SEC and CFTC to Create New Blockchain Rules
Ondo Finance has submitted three comment letters to U.S. regulators, urging them to create new rules for blockchains and perpetual futures. The company believes that blockchain technology can solve market risks without duplicating legacy systems.
Ondo's proposal comes as the SEC and CFTC examine how existing frameworks can accommodate digital-asset markets and newer forms of derivatives trading. The company targets three areas of crypto market structure: onchain infrastructure, perpetual futures, and portfolio margining.
Ondo argues that perpetual futures, which do not have a fixed expiration date, can be regulated using continuous funding mechanisms and mark-to-market. This approach could help regulate perpetual exposure to U.S.-listed assets.
