Open Standard Launches OUSD Stablecoin Across Four Blockchain Networks
Open Standard has launched its new stablecoin, Open USD (OUSD), which is pegged to the US dollar. The stablecoin is issued by Bridge, a Stripe company, and reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY.
OUSD is initially available on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo. According to an announcement, OUSD is designed for business use cases such as payments, settlement, foreign exchange, and institutional trading.
Open Standard said that businesses can access OUSD through platforms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap, with supported integrations allowing minting and redemption at a 1:1 rate against the US dollar. The company has identified cross-border payments, settlement, foreign exchange, trading, wallets, and card infrastructure as potential applications.
Bridge is responsible for issuing OUSD, and Open Standard said that the stablecoin's reserves are held with BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY, with monthly reserve attestations planned. However, the launch announcement did not disclose the amount of OUSD initially issued or provide transaction-volume figures.
