Optimism Courts Institutional Clients with Customizable Stablecoin Infrastructure

Optimism has published a technical document highlighting its role in providing stablecoin and tokenization infrastructure to institutions. The document outlines two deployment models on the OP Stack, which includes OP Mainnet, a public Layer 2 network connected to dollar liquidity, and OP Enterprise, a dedicated chain for custom configuration and controls.

The OP Stack has seen significant adoption, with over 6.8 billion transactions between January and August 2026, and more than 50 chains in production. The ecosystem is also the foundation for stablecoin products, primarily USDC, which holds 58% of spending on Optimism's crypto cards.

The document emphasizes that institutions should choose infrastructure based on their specific needs, rather than comparing protocols. It provides guidance on where dollar liquidity resides, compliance controls are applied, and who operates the chain.
