Optimism Rolls Out Institutional DeFi Guide for Fortune 500 Companies
Optimism has released a comprehensive guide for Fortune 500 companies to deploy their own chains on OP Stack and access institutional DeFi with compliance controls. This move is aimed at facilitating onchain finance for large enterprises, which can now operate proprietary chains with customizable settings. The central focus is infrastructure: the company deploys and governs its own chain, defines who can transact, and how operations are ordered, while final settlement occurs on Ethereum.
The OP Stack ecosystem has secured approximately $17 billion in value and processed nearly 6.8 billion transactions between January and August this year, according to L2BEAT. Optimism addressed the issue with an analogy: a dedicated chain on OP Stack is equivalent to a virtual private cloud, while a shared public L2 resembles multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
The guide also highlights the benefits of using OP Enterprise's managed service, which offers three tiers with SLAs of up to 99.95% availability and critical incident response times of 15 minutes for deployments. The OP Stack is open source under the MIT license, allowing companies to modify and operate it autonomously or hire OP Enterprise as a managed service.
