Optimism Ships Maintenance Update for op-reth v2.5.0
Optimism has released op-reth v2.5.0, which is recommended for all operators due to its maintenance update focusing on breaking command removal and dependency security patches.
The latest release published on October 1 does not change the economic rules of the OP Stack but updates the software used to execute them.
One notable change is the removal of `import-op` and `import-receipts-op`, which were used for importing legacy pre-Bedrock OVM history. Operators still relying on this workflow need to switch to the Bedrock state-bootstrap process before upgrading, with pre-Bedrock history served from an l2geth instance.
The update also patches security issues in `rustls` and `imbl` dependencies, specifically addressing RUSTSEC-2026-0285 and RUSTSEC-2026-0292. These fixes are for software-security vulnerabilities and not evidence of an OP Stack chain being exploited.
