Optimism Superchain Surges Past $14 Billion TVL
Optimism's Superchain has reached an aggregate total value locked (TVL) of over $14 billion, combining multiple OP Stack networks including Base, World Chain, Mode, Zora, and Sonic. This figure represents a significant milestone for the ecosystem.
Base, one of the key players in the Superchain, has seen impressive user growth. On August 24, it reached 1.05 million daily active addresses, a 60% increase from the beginning of August. This surge in user activity is attributed to the launch of the basenames service on August 21, which saw over 200,000 basenames minted in its first week.
Base has also made significant gains in terms of market share, accounting for 9.25% of the total decentralized exchange volume on the Ethereum network, up from 2.81% in March. This is a notable achievement, especially considering that Base handles over 60% of all L2 transactions.
The competition between Layer 2 networks, such as Base and Arbitrum, is intense. While Arbitrum has a larger absolute TVL at $11.66 billion, Base's user growth and market share gains suggest it may be gaining ground in the long term.
