OrdinalsBot Shuts Down Amid Market Contraction
OrdinalsBot, the pioneering inscription service in the Bitcoin ecosystem, has announced its shutdown after three years of operation. The project, which opened shortly after the Ordinals protocol went live in early 2023, cited a sharp contraction in the Ordinals market as the reason for its closure.
The team behind OrdinalsBot stated that they had explored various measures to sustain the business, including restructuring and pivoting, but ultimately determined that continuing operations was no longer viable. The project will put its brand, intellectual property, and full technology stack up for sale through an open bidding process.
The package includes the OrdinalsBot brand, intellectual property, domains, social media accounts, Discord community, and GitHub presence. Additionally, it encompasses over three years of research and development across more than 90 code repositories. The team believes that this asset portfolio could provide a prospective buyer with an established foundation for building on Bitcoin without having to develop the underlying infrastructure from scratch.
The shutdown of OrdinalsBot joins a growing list of crypto project closures, with over 120 projects shutting down or filing for bankruptcy so far this year. The team behind OrdinalsBot has begun receiving acquisition bids and will inform investors about the wind-down process.
