OUSD Stablecoin Adds $626.3 Million in Just One Week
Open Standard's OUSD stablecoin has made a stunning debut, adding $626.3 million to its market cap in just one week. Launched on September 30, 2026, OUSD is backed by a consortium of heavy hitters, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa. The token was created to support payments and banking use cases, rather than solely as a trading vehicle.
The business model behind OUSD is its unique selling point, offering a shared-economics model that routes reserve earnings primarily to partner businesses, rather than keeping them at the issuer level. This approach could disrupt the traditional economics of the market, dominated by Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC.
With over $1 billion in liquidity support from the founding partners, OUSD's launch has been a success, with circulating supply reaching approximately $666 million to $668 million in just a few days. The token's growth has been impressive, with the partner roster expanding from 140 companies to over 200 since its announcement on June 30, 2026.
