OUSD Stablecoin Launched With Over $1 Billion in Liquidity From Major Companies
The OUSD stablecoin, launched by Open Standard on September 30, 2026, has gained significant traction with over $1 billion in liquidity provided by major companies such as Coinbase, Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa. The token is now live on Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo, and three integration paths are available at launch: BVNK, Stripe, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform.
The ownership structure of Open Standard is notable, with five companies holding an equal initial equity stake. These companies include Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa. The partners also receive a significant portion of the interest earned on OUSD reserves after a management fee, and equity distribution is based on the supply and activity each partner drives.
Reserve backing for OUSD sits with large custodians such as BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY, and Open Standard publishes monthly attestations to confirm balances. The company has also standardized on Chainlink as an official data oracle for OUSD, which will provide verified external data onchain for contracts to consume.
