OUSD Stablecoin Surges to $626M in One Week
Open Standard's OUSD stablecoin has experienced rapid growth since its launch on September 30, 2026. Over the past week, its market capitalization surged by $626.3 million, a significant increase for a token that was only recently made available.
OUSD is backed by a consortium of major players in the payments industry, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa. The founding partners have committed more than $1 billion in liquidity support at launch, which has helped to fuel the token's growth.
One key feature of OUSD's business model is its shared-economics approach, which routes reserve earnings primarily to partner businesses instead of keeping them at the issuer level. This could disrupt the traditional economics of the stablecoin market, dominated by Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC.
