Pakistan Crypto Market Faces Compliance Deadline on September 5
Pakistan's crypto market is set to face its first major compliance test as existing firms must submit an NOC application by September 5 or cease operations. The Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) has opened applications for NOCs, regulatory sandbox licenses, and full Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licenses.
The regime is broader than a simple exchange registration system, covering multiple virtual asset activities rather than just exchanges alone. Companies must submit their business plan and corporate documentation as part of the NOC application process, which is not the final license. Instead, it's an intermediate step towards full authorization.
Pakistan has created a staged route into the regulated market: NOC application, preliminary authorization, compliance requirements, local incorporation, and VASP license. This structure matters because September 5 should not be interpreted as the date on which every existing crypto company needs to have secured a full VASP license.
