PBW 2026 Marks Shift from Explaining Blockchain to Deploying it
The Philippines' fourth Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) event drew over 12,000 delegates from around the world to Manila in July 2026. The three-day gathering marked a significant shift in the country's digital transformation, moving beyond explaining the potential of blockchain and artificial intelligence.
Decoded: Deployed was the theme of PBW 2026, which aimed to showcase how these technologies are already being deployed across government, finance, business, and everyday life. The event featured over 150 speakers from around the world, with more than half representing international markets.
Michael Terpin, known as the 'Godfather of Crypto', spoke at PBW 2026 and highlighted the Philippines' role in shaping the global digital conversation. He noted that social media has played a significant part in incubating new platforms in the country, and Axie Infinity became a global phenomenon due to its popularity in the Philippines.
The event also featured discussions on tokenized real-world assets and practical blockchain applications. Varun Chugh explained how tokenization is modernizing traditional assets, making them more accessible and cross-border.
