Peirce Resigns as SEC Commissioner Amid Shift in Crypto Policy

Hester Peirce, also known as 'Crypto Mom', has officially resigned from her position as an SEC commissioner. Her resignation becomes effective on October 2, 2026, marking the end of a nearly nine-year tenure at the agency.

Peirce joined the SEC in January 2018 and became known for pushing the agency toward clearer crypto policy. Despite her term ending in 2025, she used an 18-month extension to remain in her seat until this date.

In a letter to the White House, Peirce expressed gratitude for serving at the SEC, calling it 'the honor of my professional lifetime.' She also emphasized the importance of letting people make their own investment choices within appropriate guardrails.
