Perpetual Futures Contracts Emerge as Crypto Exchanges' New Frontier
Crypto exchanges are increasingly hosting perpetual futures contracts linked to stocks, indexes, and commodities, a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.
According to data from Fasanara Digital, assets such as stocks and indexes accounted for 23.48% of perpetual-futures activity on leading digital-asset exchanges in August, a significant jump from the mere 0.5% seen in November.
The total monthly turnover in these contracts reached $778 billion in August, a staggering 33x increase compared to November's figure of $23.5 billion.
Nikita Fadeev, managing partner for Fasanara Digital, attributed the shift to traders seeking higher volatility and leverage opportunities in traditional markets, particularly during periods of low activity in crypto.
