Pi Coin Surges Amid Pi Network's Ongoing Upgrade to Protocol 26

The Pi Network's protocol upgrade to version 26 is underway, requiring all Mainnet node operators to upgrade their software by August 11. This mandatory update is part of the network's current roadmap and will prepare it for the final planned upgrade, Protocol 27.

As a result of this development, the price of Pi Coin has surged 4.11% in the past 24 hours to $0.0825, outperforming the broader crypto market despite Bitcoin trading slightly lower during the same period.

The increase in Pi Coin's price appears to be driven by organic buying and accumulation rather than a specific catalyst or major announcement from the network.

The SLICE liquidity model, part of Pi Network's growing DeFi ecosystem, was also highlighted as it launched its test with 10 million SLICE test tokens distributed to participating Pioneers. The SLICE test uses an automated market maker alongside the Pi DEX order book to simulate liquidity and decentralized trading.
