Pi Network Completes Major Upgrade, Targets Another Upgrade by October
The Pi Network's latest major upgrade, Protocol 27, is finally complete. The Core Team behind the project announced this on September 25th, after initially missing a deadline of September 15th to confirm the successful deployment.
Despite the delay, node operators are urged to update their software to the new version by October 13th. A subsequent upgrade, Protocol 28, is also in the works and will focus on improving how the network operates under the hood, including addressing transaction data delays and enabling simultaneous upgrades of smart contracts.
The native token, PI, has been volatile lately, dropping to $0.083 before rebounding to its current price above $0.09. The project's market cap has reclaimed the $1 billion level, making it the 65th-largest cryptocurrency by that metric.
