Pi Network Expands Real-World Use Cases with Open Network Launch

Pi Network has made significant strides in real-world use cases since its Open Network launch, removing the firewall that previously separated the Mainnet from the outside world.

The shift has enabled a range of practical applications, including everyday payments and local commerce. Pi's Wallet now supports peer-to-peer transfers and business payments using QR codes, transaction memos, and a contacts list.

PiFest, an event held in December 2023, drew responses from over 21,000 Pioneers across 155 countries, demonstrating organic demand for spending Pi locally. However, merchant adoption remains uneven and largely voluntary.

The project has also expanded to support online businesses and merchants, with verified businesses able to integrate Pi Wallet payments into their online storefronts using SDK tools available to app developers.
