Pi Network Navigates EU Regulatory Framework

Pi Network's regulatory position in Europe has attracted renewed attention after a community update highlighted developments involving the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, MiCA.

A series of events have taken place: PiBit Ltd submitted a MiCA-compliant white paper in November 2025, which was subsequently registered by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) on January 15, 2026, as entry number 549.

The regulatory transition for Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) occurred on July 1, 2026. Despite this change, Pi Network remained available across Europe, with exchanges not delisting it and the Pi mining application and browser still operational.

While these developments have raised questions about the project's compliance status in Europe, it is essential to understand that a white paper filing and registration do not necessarily mean universal regulatory approval. The ESMA registration specifically pertains to the submitted document, which provides information about a crypto asset within the MiCA framework.
