Pi Network Teams Up with Open Standard for Stablecoin Rewards
Pi Network has partnered with Open Standard, the company behind the stablecoin OUSD (Open USD), in an unexpected move that could bring significant rewards to Pioneers. The partnership was announced on X just as OUSD went live with backing from major players like Visa, Coinbase, Mastercard, and Stripe.
The timing of the announcement is intriguing, coming hours after OUSD officially launched on September 30. Businesses and developers can now integrate the dollar-pegged asset through infrastructure from the aforementioned companies, while it's also available natively on Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo. Over 200 financial institutions, fintechs, banks, and global businesses have joined Open Standard's network, including founding partners like Shopify, which has committed over $1 billion in near-term launch liquidity.
Open Standard uses a unique economic model that rewards participating partners with OUSD supply and activity on their platforms. Pi Network hasn't revealed how any potential reward program would work or who would qualify, but the partnership does explore ways to bring OUSD-created rewards and broader utility to Pi's vast user ecosystem.
