Pi Network Token Surges Ahead of Protocol 26 Upgrade Amid Token Unlock Risks
The Pi Network token (PI) experienced a 4.71% price increase on July 30, surpassing the broader cryptocurrency market's decline of 0.74%. Bitcoin's slump and investor optimism ahead of the Protocol 26 upgrade contributed to the surge in PI's value. The current trading price is around $0.082, following a rebound from $0.078.
The Pi Core Team has instructed mainnet node operators to complete their upgrade to Protocol 26 by August 11, marking the second-to-last major protocol upgrade for the network. This update follows the successful rollout of Protocol 25 on July 25 and is designed to introduce new features, improve performance, and enhance functionality.
Despite the technical progress, some community members remain skeptical due to Pi Network's price drop of roughly 97% from its February 2025 peak of $2.98. Market activity has increased, with a 17% rise in trading volume on CoinMarketCap, indicating stronger buying interest despite hawkish comments from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh.
From a technical perspective, Pi Network's price is within a rising parallel channel, associated with sustained bullish momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 62 and continues trending higher, suggesting that bullish momentum remains intact.
