Pi Network Update Looms as Token Price Remains Stagnant
The Pi Network has been relatively quiet in recent times, but that's about to change with a major protocol update scheduled for September 15. The update, version 27, will introduce more flexible and secure smart-contract authentication, allowing accounts and apps to authorize transactions more efficiently.
However, the project's native token, PI, hasn't benefited from the anticipation surrounding the update. Despite being up approximately 7% over the past two weeks, it continues to trade below $0.10, a disappointing performance compared to the broader crypto market.
The Pi Network has been working on its protocol upgrades since January 2026, with version 19.6 marking the beginning of this process. However, some updates have been delayed, including version 25, which was supposed to be introduced by July 22 but came later than expected.
Elon Musk's recent interaction with the Pi Network community has sparked speculation about a potential endorsement for the project. In a response on X, Musk highlighted the physically meaningful representation of PI, leading some to believe that he was referring to the token. However, this remains speculative, and there is no clear indication that Musk intends to endorse PI.
