Pi Network's PI Surges to Multi-Week Peak Amid Market Turbulence
Pi Network's native token has seen an impressive surge over the past day, outperforming most of the cryptocurrency market. Despite the overall market showing minor gains, with Bitcoin nearing $65,000, PI has exploded above a key resistance level and reached a multi-week peak.
The altcoin has been known for its volatility in recent times, plummeting to an all-time low of just over $0.07 in late July after breaking below several key support levels. However, it found support at that level and quickly rebounded to above $0.10 within a week. The bulls returned again, but this time the price pump was short-lived, with PI getting rejected and slumping below $0.075 by the end of the month.
The past 24 hours have been more positive for PI, with it making a three-week peak of $0.096 after exploding from $0.083. Although it was rejected at this level, it still sits above $0.09 as of press time, and its market cap has climbed back to the coveted $1 billion mark.
The question now is whether today's surge will be sustainable or just another example of PI's history of meeting resistance and then plummeting again. The number of tokens to be unlocked in August is higher than in July and June, with 128 million PI scheduled to be released this month. This could increase immediate selling pressure from investors who have been waiting for their assets.
