Pi Price Down 3% Amid Protocol 27 Upgrade and Broader Crypto Market Pullback
Pi (PI) price fell by around 3% over the last 16 hours as the market digested the Protocol 27 mainnet upgrade and related developer updates. The upgrade, described as Pi Network's 'final planned upgrade', brings smart contract capabilities, AMM DEX infrastructure, and RPC improvements to build real applications on Pi.
The price move looks more like a re-pricing of short-term expectations around the upgrade rather than a reaction to a surprise negative catalyst. Pi's small decline sits inside a generalized pullback across the crypto market in the same period.
Total crypto market capitalization fell from $2.66 trillion to $2.59 trillion, a drop of about 2.8%, while Bitcoin dominance stayed roughly flat near 59%. The upgrade has been anticipated and hyped, but the real test is whether ecosystem activity actually materializes.
The Pi Core Team shipped SoloHost updates and Pi Desktop 0.6.3, improving app discovery, reliability, and developer tooling, while price hovered above $0.097 but still below key longer-term moving averages and resistance near $0.105.
