Pi Price Slumps 3.22% Amid Protocol 27 Anticipation and ECB Hike

The price of Pi (PI) dropped by 3.22% over the last ~30 hours, largely due to a combination of factors.

The token had been rising in anticipation of Protocol 27, its final planned protocol upgrade, which is set to activate on September 15 and include features such as smart contract authentication and an AMM DEX.

However, the price had repeatedly failed to break through the $0.10 resistance zone, leading to profit taking among traders.

The ECB's rate hike also contributed to a broader market pullback, with Bitcoin and other majors experiencing downward pressure.

In addition, heavy token unlock supply is expected to reach 1.21 billion PI in 2026, which could put additional sell pressure on the market.
