Poland's Crypto Bill Blocked Again After Presidential Veto
Poland remains without a domestic crypto regulator after lawmakers in the country's lower house failed to override President Karol Nawrocki's third veto of a crypto bill.
The vote, which took place on September 4, saw 241 lawmakers in favor and 198 against, with three abstentions. However, this was not enough to meet the required three-fifths majority of 266 votes needed to override the veto.
The bill would have designated the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) as the country's crypto regulator and aligned domestic rules with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
Nawrocki has previously expressed concerns that the government's version of the legislation was too restrictive, potentially imposing excessive burdens on Polish crypto companies.
