Polish Authorities Charge Former Officer Over Collapsed Crypto Exchange Zondacrypto

Polish prosecutors have charged a former police officer, Artur K., in connection with the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto. The platform's founder, Sylwester Suszek, created BitBay in 2014 and relaunched it as Zondacrypto, which grew to 1.3 million customers.

The charges against Artur K. include membership in an organized criminal group, large-scale property damage against BitBay and BB Trade Estonia, money laundering, and computer fraud. During a search of his residence, documentation linked to Zondacrypto's operations was found.

The prosecution is treating the disappearance of Sylwester Suszek as unlawful deprivation of liberty. Since August, at least five individuals have been charged in connection with the collapse of Zondacrypto, including Radosław P., former head of the Polish Olympic Committee.
