Polish Olympic Chief Charged in Connection with Defunct Crypto Exchange

Radosław Piesiewicz, the head of Poland's Olympic Committee, has been charged in an investigation linked to defunct cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto.

Piesiewicz was detained by authorities in connection with the probe, announced Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek on X.

The charges against Piesiewicz include allegations of influence peddling and favoring some creditors over others while facing insolvency, under two provisions of Poland's Penal Code.

The exchange, Zondacrypto, stopped trading in April 2025 due to a liquidity crisis, after then-CEO Przemysław Kral said it couldn't access a wallet holding about 4,500 Bitcoin because it didn't have the private keys. Kral has been charged with participating in large-scale fraud and is cooperating with investigators.
