Polish Olympic Chief Detained Amid Crypto-Linked Bribery Probe
The president of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl), Radosław Piesiewicz, has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption linked to the crypto platform Zondacrypto. According to the National Prosecutor's Office of Poland, officers from the Central Cybercrime Bureau detained Piesiewicz on August 27, 2026, in Warsaw.
The arrest warrant was issued amid a criminal probe into alleged improper financial benefits associated with sponsorship contracts signed between the sports body and Zondacrypto. Preliminary investigations suggest that Piesiewicz accepted high-value assets from the platform's former CEO, Przemysław Kral, including a luxury watch valued at €40,000.
The case has been ongoing since April 17, 2026, when it formally began with allegations of large-scale fraud and money laundering. The collapse of Zondacrypto resulted in direct financial damages estimated to be no less than 350 million PLN (approximately $94 million).
