Polish Police Search Fuel Depot for Missing Crypto Exchange Founder
Polish police are searching a fuel depot in southern Poland where Sylwester Suszek, the founder of crypto exchange BitBay, was last seen before he vanished over four years ago.
Suszek founded BitBay in 2014 as a platform for buying and selling cryptocurrency. On March 10, 2022, he drove to a fuel company's property but never returned. His phone stopped connecting to the network that afternoon, according to reports.
The disappearance of Suszek has been under investigation since his vanishing act in 2022. Prosecutors combined the cases with allegations concerning BitBay's successor, ZondaCrypto, saying that how the exchange was founded and operated could help explain what happened to Suszek.
An earlier prosecution update revealed that a suspect identified as Anna P. was charged with obstructing the investigation for allegedly removing a hard drive from a fuel station's surveillance recorder. Prosecutors also accused her of encouraging false testimony.
