Polkadot's DOT Token Sees Surge in Smart Money Support Amid Downturn
Polkadot's DOT token has been hit hard in recent sessions, plummeting by 6.8% in a single day and bottoming at $0.88 before recovering slightly to $0.89. However, despite this downturn, the majority of 'smart money' - top traders with significant influence over market trends - remain net long on DOT.
According to data from Binance, these high-stakes investors are 73.5% net long, indicating a strong conviction in the token's future performance. This positioning is further reinforced by a surge in open interest, which jumped nearly 10% in just 24 hours and added over $3 million in notional exposure to reach $31.4 million.
However, this optimistic outlook is tempered by the fact that DOT has yet to reclaim its long-term mean of $1.14, a significant resistance level that looms large on the horizon. The token's price action suggests it is more likely a recovery trade than a breakout story, and traders will need a 'clean catalyst' to push through this upper band compression pattern.
